I had the pleasure of making a series of ink and watercolor illustrations for John de Graaf’s new film “From Sea to Shining Sea, Katherine Lee Bates and the Story of America the Beautiful” I’ve posted a few of the illustrations here, I hope you have a chance to see the film. It’s currently screening and in film festivals around the country. Bates was an American who used her talents and voice to oppose the excesses of American imperialist expansionism abroad, and inequality at home. May she, and so many others, give us all courage as we face the struggles of our times.
